Our latest co-production with Raw T.V “Miracle Landing on the Hudson”. The amazing story of how against all odds the pilot landed his aircraft with no power to the engines into the Hudson Bay, all passengers survived.
What made this project so ground breaking? Here are a few snack size facts of elements Black Hangar provided for this production:
Production Manager Sophie Campbell encapsulated the mood perfectly
A purpose built water tank the size of an Olympic swimming pool built on our backlot. The largest temporary water tank in the world.
The biggest Green Screen in Europe standing at an impressive 16 ft high by 112 metres.
110 articulated lorry loads of water to fast fill the tank so the production could shoot in chronological order, for continuity and the creative needs of the script. That’s right, they all said it couldn’t be done, but we delivered 3,500,000 litres of water in just a few days.
A 737 Aircraft adapted to look like a A320, with a full interior. First shot dry; then shot wet (craned into the water tank). This required a crane rated to 150 tonnes!
Black Hangar provided a VFX supervisor for on set duties and beat all the London vendors for the CGI and VFX bid; and completed 170 shots.
